About Me
I am a visual artist based in Gibsons, originally from Japan. I work primarily in acrylic and oil, alongside watercolour, ink, pencil, and charcoal.
Animals have long been at the heart of my work. Living closely with cats for many years has deepened my fascination with the subtle complexity of their movements and presence. My paintings explore the quiet moments between stillness and action — where balance, tension, instinct, and emotion briefly reveal themselves. I am drawn to these fleeting transitions, where movement becomes both expressive and intimate.
I create commissioned pet portraits of cats, dogs, other animals, and other beloved companions, as well as paintings of vintage toys and treasured objects that carry personal histories and memories.
Over the years, I have also collaborated on a variety of creative projects, including large-scale banner paintings for music events in Lithuania and cycling-related artwork for velodrome spaces. My artwork has also appeared in films and commercial productions.
Alongside my studio practice, I have spent many years facilitating art programs in long-term care and dementia care settings. This experience continues to shape my understanding of art as a quiet yet powerful form of connection, communication, and presence.
Outside the studio, I spend time running through coastal and forest landscapes, which continues to inspire my interest in rhythm, movement, and attentive observation.
